LX Annual Anglo-Catalan Society Conference 5th-7th Sept. 2014

The Anglo-Catalan Society (ACS) exists to promote awareness and appreciation of Catalan culture in Britain and Ireland and to encourage cultural relations with the Catalan-speaking communities. The LX annual conference will be held at University College Cork from 5th to 7th September 2014, in conjunction with the Department of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies. The provisional costs of the conference, including the 60th annual lunch on Saturday 6th September, will be €140 for non-members, €120 for members and €90 for students. We will set day rates of €50 per day plus €35 for the annual lunch.

Because our 60th anniversary conference coincides with both the current decade of commemorations in Ireland and also the build-up to the tricentenary of 11th September 1714, we have decided to offer space for reflection on the theme of “Memory and the Culture(s) of Commemoration in the Catalan-speaking territories”, with guest lectures by Lluïsa Julià, Queralt Solé and Joan Sellent, amongst others.
